A Montana Tradition Since 1979

Shedhorn Sports is undoubtedly one of the more loved and respected outdoor sporting goods stores in Montana. Although we are best known for our vast inventory and knowledgeable staff, we are also located in the heart of the iconic western ranching and fly fishing community of Ennis, Montana, surrounded by stunning views of the Rocky Mountains.

Our history begins with young Montana native Rob working the gun department within the Gambles Hardware store in downtown Ennis. During this time, Rob and his dad, Glen, were also operating a family outfitting business offering high country summer pack trips and guided big game hunts in the surrounding mountains of the Madison Range. The Gambles Hardware became a True Value hardware store where Rob worked and continued finessing his career in the firearms industry. Then in 2003, the hardware store moved locations out of downtown Ennis, which allowed Rob the opportunity to purchase the building and expand the gun department to launch a complete outdoors store, offering camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, footwear, and clothing, a growing need for the growing town of Ennis — and Shedhorn Sports was born. Rob’s knowledge of hunting and the backcountry has carried over into the employees and customers that frequent Shedhorn Sports. One of his long-time employees and avid outdoorswoman, Melissa heard of his desire to retire and she wanted to make sure Shedhorn Sports stayed the Shedhorn Sports she knew and loved. So in 2021, Melissa purchased the store and to this day, Shedhorn remains locally-owned and operated and continues to offer customers the opportunity to experience the outdoors in the best way possible.
